I got zero work done on the Duck house.
Instead MsRiot & I got a canoe ride around our little pond, a fly fishing lesson, and shared homemade scones with Riverhorse Nakadate, a Patagonia sponsored fly fishing angler and lover of nature.
We talked about micro-adventures, the soul that wooden implements can hold, some of his larger adventures, and the song that a good fly cast sings to the waters and fish below.
As we floated on the pond (in what I later found out was one of his prized possesions) I asked “So you prefer canoes over kayaks then?” He laughed, a full genuine laugh, and replied “I’m Indian man, I have to!”
Riverhorse is the beau of a good friend of ours whom we haven’t seen since the before days, aka pre- Covid. Kat, the good friend, is the kind of friend that you don’t see for years and just pick up where you left off as if it’s only been days. I was unsurprised that her chosen mate felt the same. Someone that I could easily talk about what makes a good burger and the spirituality of tattooing, even though we had just met.
I didn’t get any work done on the Duck house. Instead I enjoyed a little micro-adventure that the Universe served up.
What a weird and magical life.
